Finite element analysis is a engineering tool that can be used to simulate and analyze various types of designs. Some engineering designs that this sophiscated engineering tool can be used for are bolted joints, brackets, composite assembly or even a complex system with many components. This engineering tool can be used to simulate engineering designs under many environmental conditions. A computational model commonly known as a finite element model is generated via a finite element analysis software. This model attempts to capture all of the features of a particular engineering design. Material properties, loads, and boundary conditions are applied to the computational model to conduct the finite element analysis. Numerical data is obtained from the analysis to evaluate the results. Once an evaluation has been made, engineering decisions are made to improve the engineering design.
